1. Hemp has no (or extremely minimal) side effects

side effects

Hemp products benefit the body. This is perhaps the most notable difference between industrial hemp and pharmaceuticals. CBD (which is the “primary” cannabinoid in hemp) has been tested up to a dosage of 700 mg per day (for comparison, if you buy CBD online, a hemp gummy ranges between 5 and 50 mg; a dropper of hemp oil tincture ranges between 5 and 25 mg; a puff of vape has between one and three mg of CBD). Even in this extreme dosage, it has been found to have no adverse side effects in most people. Those that did experience side effects complained of stomach aches and drowsiness. I think most of us would agree that those side effects are tolerable, especially considering the fact that none of us will be ingesting 700 mg per day (unless we are testing the research!).

2. Hemp products come in a wide variety of formats

Pharmaceuticals are typically limited to pills or shots. When you purchase Cannabidiol products online, you will find that CBD extract oils come in oil drops, tinctures (under the tongue), vape (inhaled), CBD soft gels and capsules, edibles (yummy chocolates, gummies, etc.), topicals, suppositories, and probably even other formats. This variety makes hemp products very easy to ingest and enjoy. No more struggles to swallow big pills; with hemp CBD products, you can take hemp in whatever way is best and easiest for you.

3. Hemp is beneficial to your body

hemp is healthy

Our body contains a endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is involved in regulating a variety of physiological and cognitive processes . The processes regulated by this system include, but are not limited to, fertility, appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory.

There are two primary endocannabinoids: anandamide (AEA) (and its mimetic phytocannabinoid THC), and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) (and it’s mimetic phytocannabinoid CBD). 2-AG and CBD are involved in the regulation of appetite, immune system functions and pain management. Phytocannabinoids like CBD can keep the body balanced and in homeostasis.

Without phytocannabinoids (specifically CBD as found in industrial hemp), our bodies can get out of balance and we can have pain, insomnia, and other problems. Hemp products can assist in maintaining a healthy life.

4. Hemp is a naturally occurring plant, not a synthetic chemical

Unlike synthetic pharmaceuticals, which can have toxic effects on our lives, hemp is a remarkable plant that provides many benefits to our bodies and our earth. It’s roots can spread 20 feet down, assisting with water percolation. Its fibers can make fabrics and ropes. Its hearts provide tons of protein to foods. And CBD extract oils aid in our bodies’ balance.

5. Hemp is non-addictive

While the lack of side effects is very notable (point #1), the fact that hemp CBD products have been proven to be non-addictive is also incredibly important. The World Health Organization concluded from their review of evidence from animal and human studies that, “in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

In opposition, a huge number of prescription drugs have addictive effects, which can lead to tremendous problems in our culture: loss of jobs, crime, mental illness, and physical dependence.

Personally, if I have a choice between an non-addictive substance and one that is highly addictive, a natural product versus a chemical, something that is beneficial to the body as opposed to one that is harmful, one that doesn’t have side effects versus one with a long list of side effects, and one that has many formats to pick from in contrast to the standard pill or injection — well, to me that’s a no brainer — I’d pick the former! How about you… what would you choose?
